Update on SIMON DVDs

I got another e-mail from TVShowsOnDVD.com awhile back, and it now looks like they will be out in October (on the 10th).  Sigh  I just want them out as soon as possible.  I can't wait to see them.  The article I got said this:

Simon & Simon -- New(er) Date for Season 1

Posted by Gord Lacey (6/27/06)

Our retail friend dropped us another line regarding the first season of Simon & Simon.  We were originally told that it would be out on September 5, but the date now being tossed around is October 10, a month later.  This is still the unofficial date, and will be until  it's officially announced by Universal Studios.  Hopefully that'll occur in the next few weeks.  The set is still paired with the fifth seasons of Magnum, P.I. and the A-Team.

So there you have it.  I hope to hear more soon, and as soon as I do, I will let you all know about it!

Hope all of y'all had a wonderful 4th of July!

Ciana

If anybody's interested...

I've found a new site that has some stuff about Jameson.  It's at http://www.rottentomatoes.com/p/jameson_parker.  They have some stuff about his movies, how you can buy them, photos, links, and a forum.  If you want to go check it out, then do!  I've already posted in the forum -- I'm actually the only one who has, besides the moderator.  Anyhoo, I'm going to go post the link on the "Great Links" sidebar.  Talk at y'all later...

Hello, all!

  • Mood: Ecstatic!!!!!

I got some good news yesterday!  TVShowsonDVD.com sent me an e-mail saying that Simon & Simon may be out on DVD in September!  I'm so excited, and I can't wait!!!  I told the girls (and guys) at Simon Home, but nobody responded yet.  Oh, well.  I guess they're just waiting to see if it actually happens.  I hope it does!  I have a lot of the episodes on tape (as a girl at Jeanne's book forum put it, I got them when they, uh, fell off a truck.  Yeah, that's it.  That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

Anyway, I'm so happy I could burst, and I need to go someplace and scream for awhile, so I'll talk to y'all later.

Birthday announcement

My birthday is in two weeks, and I'm so excited!  I'll be 34.  I've already made the announcement to my fellow "A.J. girls" at Simon Home that I expect to have a date with A.J. that day.   I'll come and write more later.

C

ETA:  I just found out that one of our members also has a birthday on the 22nd, so I just may have to share A.J.!  Not that I'll want to share all that I plan to do with him, if you know what I mean...

  • Mood: Fabulous!
  • Music: "Heartache Tonight" -- The Eagles (Why? I'm just listening to it right now. I love the Eagles.)

Just mailed a letter to Jameson.  I sent it to his publisher in New York, and I'm hoping that the publisher will send it on to Jameson.

I've been watching my Simon & Simon tapes a lot lately.  I told Jameson in my letter that, like Rick, I have a thing for blonds, so that should tell him which of the Simon brothers I prefer!   In his book, he mentions going to an audition where one of the guys involved in casting asked him if he was in The Hardy Boys.  Jameson said, "No, that was Parker Stevenson."  The guy said, "Oh.  I really liked that show.  Which show were you in?" and Jameson said, "Simon & Simon." and the guy just said "Oh."

I told Jameson that I really liked The Hardy Boys also, even though I was only five and six years old when it was on.  (I believe it was on between 1977-78 or 79).  I thought Shaun Cassidy was really cute.

Just to keep on with the "blond" theme, another actor I liked was Dirk Benedict, who played Face in The A-TeamSigh  (In case anyone is wondering, I'm Japanese-American, with black hair and brown eyes, so that may explain my fascination with blue-eyed blonds.)

I watched the episode "A Significant Obsession" the other day, and just between you and me, I still feel kinda sorry for Allison.  I mean, planting a bomb in someone's car and trying to burn A.J. to death, definitely not of the good, but I can understand her loving him.  He's a very sweet guy.  (I understand that Jameson is the same way.  Everyone who's  met him that I've talked to at Simon Home says he's very nice.)  Even now, I can imagine that he's someone I could be friends with.  Maybe even fall in love with.

Okay, let's end this before y'all start thinking I'm really crazy.  I'll talk to you later.

Hello, all!

Sorry I haven't been posting lately, but I've been kinda busy.

I wrote a letter to Gerald McRaney a few weeks ago (I got his agent's address from the Screen Actors' Guild -- pretty clever, huh?), but I haven't heard back from him.  Oh, well.  I was hoping he could tell me how to get in touch with Jameson, but I guess I'll have to figure out some other way.  Maybe I'll write to the company that published An Accidental Cowboy, and they'll get the letter to him.

Well, I guess I'd better log off now.  Got things to do and people to see.  Talk to y'all later.

Book review: An Accidental Cowboy

Jameson Parker was an actor in the 80s and early 90s until his entire life was changed when he was shot by a neighbor on October 1, 1992. In his book, he tells of how the shooting affected him and how he ran to the mountains of Central California and became what he termed "a part-time cowboy". Much of what he wrote centers around his experiences working with cows, cowboys, cowgirls, horses, and horse trainers, and their day-to-day lives. He gives little clues about what made him decide to give up acting, but doesn't really get into the details until about two-thirds of the way into the book. He gives specifics of his post-traumatic stress disorder, including describing in detail his panic attacks. It is a wonderful book, and an interesting glimpse into the life of this very talented man. If you've ever wondered what ranch life is like, this is the book to read. It will make you laugh out loud in places, and cry in others. Most of all, it will make you think. Mr. Parker has become one of my personal heroes by allowing me to see into his world, and I thank him for that.

My thoughts about Jameson...

  • Mood: Fabulous!

I just thought I'd copy this from my WordPress blog, since this is supposed to contain my thoughts about Jameson.  So, here goes...

I have loved Jameson ever since I first saw him on the 80s television series, Simon & Simon, where he played the younger brother, A.J.  After the series ended in December, 1988, he went on to do several guest-starring roles, voiceover work, etc.  On October 1, 1992, he was shot by a neighbor, Robert St. George, after St. George made obscene comments to Jameson’s wife, Darleen Carr, as she walked their dogs past St. George’s home.  St. George got nine years in prison; Jameson and Darleen moved to the Sierras where Jameson found a new career as a “part-time cowboy” and writer of books.  His first book is called An Accidental Cowboy, and it follows Jameson as he learns to gather and drive cattle, talks to other cowboys, and deals with post-traumatic stress disorder, an unwelcome side effect of the shooting.

Jameson is one of the most underrated actors I know of.  Even though he still acts, as far as I’m concerned, his roles are too few and far between.  I would love to see him in more television shows and movies.  I don’t get cable, so if he could show up in some network shows, that would be wonderful.

Also,  he edited a book called To Absent Friends, about dogs.  Some were good, some were bad, and some were downright ugly.   If you get a chance to read either of these books, I'd definitely recommend it!!

Hey, all!

Just wanted to post something before y'all decided to have a funeral for me.   I've been posting a lot on my Live Journal (http://www.livejournal.com/users/ciana1422) and my new blog at WordPress (http://ciana.wordpress.com), if anyone would like to visit either of them.  I'm also posting quite a bit at Simon Home.  One of our present conversations is about old T.V. shows that we like -- Magnum, P.I., Hardcastle and McCormick, The A-Team, etc.  But my fave from the 80s will always be Simon & Simon.

So, how is everyone doing?  I hope okay.  I still haven't heard anything to do with my job search -- I hope I do soon.

Well, I have to run now.  Talk to y'all soon!

Ciao,

C

How's everyone doing?  I'm just great.  I just started a new contest at Simon Home, if anyone is interested.  Someone describes a character (can be a main character or a guest), and the others try to figure out who it is and what episode they were in.  The person who guesses correctly then gets to pick the next character, and so on.  I only started last night, but people seem to enjoy it.  I hope it goes on for a long time!

Well, just thought I'd write something in my blog.  I'll talk to everyone later!
